THISWORLDEXISTS Whale Shark Experience Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Cancun, Quintana Roo

Guests will arrive in Cancun and collected from the airport and taken to our accommodation.

Here the group will shown to their twin-share rooms, meet the THISWORLDEXISTS Tour leader and introduce themselves to other guests.

The group will have a welcome dinner at around 7pm.

 

Day 02: Chichen Itza and Cenote visit, Quintana Roo

An early start is important to make the travel out to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Chichen Itza.

The group will meet at 7:00am for breakfast before quickly departing for the ruins in private transport. This is done in the hope of beating the large tour bus crowds in order to provide the best experience of exploring this amazing sight.

Bring a hat because it is largely unshaded and a it is a large site if you want to explore each section.

An english-speaking guide is provided at the ruins to ensure we get the full experience and important information. Lunch at a local restaurant will also be provided during the day.

After the visit to Chichen Itza, we will explore two (2) cenotes on the Yucatan peninsula before heading back to Cancun for a well-deserved rest.

A group dinner will be provided at a traditional nearby restaurant.

 

Day 03: Travel day to Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo

Breakfast will be provided before we leave so a relatively early start is important, we will be

collected at 9am from Cancun in private transport and make our way to the ferry.

We will catch the 10am ferry to Isla Mujeres, which arrives around 10:40am

An early lunch will be provided on Isla Mujeres after checking in to our accommodation.

The afternoon session will include an introduction to Scuba for those without qualifications (Those with qualifications will dive separately with an additional guide), allowing you to explore the underwater museum filled with statues and even a full size Volkswagen Beetle (now covered in marine life) at MUSA and a nearby reef off Isla Mujeres where you can see large coral formations, tropical fish and practice your new skill of Scuba exploration.

A group dinner will be provided at a traditional nearby restaurant.

 

Day 04: Whale Shark

To ensure plenty of time for travel to the whale sharks, the group will meet at 7:00am for breakfast before departing for the centre of town. 

We will embark on a 1-2 hour boat trip off shore to find the whale sharks. During this time of year, it is not uncommon to find groups of 50-200 whale sharks in close proximity.

We will swim with the whale sharks for about 30-45 minutes, depending on number of boats in the water. The boat will then visit a nearby island for a swim in the stunning blue water of the Caribbean followed by a delicious, freshly prepared ceviche lunch.

After lunch the group will collect their gear in order  to catch the 3:00pm ferry back to the mainland.

Once on the mainland, the group will head to Tulum for the night where dinner will be provided.

 

Day 05: Tulum

Breakfast will be provided at the guests' leisure allowing them to make their own daily itinerary based on their personal desires.

A visit to Dos Ojos Cenote, an incredible clear blue cenote with two different entrances (cavern scuba diving is available for those that are interested - at an additional cost) is included in the day’s activities, an incredible clear blue cenote with two different entrances. In the afternoon, the group will tour the Tulum ruins with a full English-speaking guide.we will organise a group Tulum ruins tour with full english speaking guide.

For those a little less interested or want seeking a day of slower pace, the Tulum beach is one of the nicest in the world. and wWe can help arrange bicycles for those that want to have the freedom to move at their own pace.

Lunch and dinner is provided and will be scheduled for the group to meet at certain points throughout the dayaround the group’s chosen activities.

Day 06: Sian Ka’an

To escape the development of Tulum, we will enter the pristine environment of Sian Ka’an nature reserve.

After lunch, the group will travel to Chan Cenote for our project.

We will be welcomed by the Mayan-speaking community and school children, and will visit the site of the school.

Accommodation will be in the form of home stay within the community, and local traditional meals will be provided for the group.

 

Day 07: Chan Cenote

In the morning, the group will be working on the development of the new school in Chan Cenote. Tasks may include construction, cleaning, painting, clearing, teaching etc.

In the afternoon, we will visit a local, private cenote that is rarely visited by tourists.

Accommodation will be in the form of home stay within the community, and local traditional meals will be provided for the group.

 

Day 08: Chan Cenote

The group will be working on the development of the new school in Chan Cenote in the morning, completing a range of different tasks that may include construction, cleaning, painting, clearing, teaching etc.

In the afternoon, we will visit another private cenote unknown to most tourists.

Accommodation will be in the form of home stay within the community, and local traditional meals will be provided for the group.

 

Day 09: Return to Cancun

The group will return to Cancun early in the morning to allow for guests to catch their flights.
